Stop Swiping Your Debit Card
If you walk into a store and just pay with a debit card, you are leaving money on the table. The "Savvy Purchaser" never pays full price, even on essential items.
The Double-Dip Technique When I shop at big box stores, I stack my rewards in layers.
Layer 1: The Credit Card Rewards. I use a card that gives me 2-5% cash back on the category I'm shopping in.
Layer 2: The Store App. I scan the app at checkout to catch any digital coupons or store loyalty points.
Layer 3: The Receipt Scan. As soon as I get to the car, I snap a photo of the receipt into my rewards apps to get points just for buying specific brands.
The Math By stacking these three layers, I often get 10-15% of my money back on a standard grocery run. That isn't "savings"—that is income I can invest.
